Manchaca is a neighborhood located in the south of Austin, Texas - known for its small-town charm and close proximity to the city’s amenities and attractions. The neighborhood is surrounded by lush greenery and boasts several parks and outdoor spaces where residents can enjoy hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities making it a great place to live.
Living in Manchaca offers residents a suburban rural mix feel and most residents own their homes. The neighborhood is just a short drive from downtown Austin and all the city has to offer. Manchaca is also well connected to the rest of Austin with easy access to major highways like I-35 and Mopac.
The neighborhood boasts a mix of families, young professionals, and retirees, which is reflected in the community’s shopping and dining options.
The area also offers excellent schools, including several highly-rated elementary and middle schools, as well as the prestigious Bowie High School. This high school is known for its strong academic programs and extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and theater. All schools in Manchaca are part of the Austin Independent School District, which is dedicated to providing top-quality education to all students.
Manchaca Falls
Manchaca Falls is one of the most popular swimming holes in Austin. About 25 feet high, with a swimming pool at the base of the falls. The falls are located in the Manchaca Springs State Natural Area, which is about a half-hour drive from downtown Austin.

Held every Saturday from June to October. It is the only farmers market in South Austin.
